Our Core Operational Focus Areas

A structured framework for continuing education, legislative advocacy, community outreach, and peer review across Eastern Kentucky's mountain communities.

Continuing Education & Professional Development

We organize accredited continuing education courses, clinical study clubs, and lectures led by recognized specialists, allowing mountain practitioners to earn required CE credits locally while staying current on digital dentistry, restorative techniques, pharmacology, and patient safety.

Legislative & Regulatory Advocacy

Operating as a direct liaison to the Kentucky Dental Association, KMDS represents the unique healthcare challenges of rural and Appalachian dental practices before state lawmakers and regulatory bodies, advocating for policies that expand access to care and protect the doctor-patient relationship.

Peer Review & Ethics Enforcement

KMDS maintains a professional peer review framework that adheres to the ADA Principles of Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct, providing a fair, objective mechanism to resolve patient-dentist misunderstandings and preserve professional integrity.

Community Oral Health Outreach & Access

Our member dentists lead local public health initiatives, school-based screening events, and preventative care drives, partnering with regional clinics and charitable organizations to reduce oral health disparities and improve health literacy across Eastern Kentucky.

Professional Networking, Practice Support & Patient Referrals

We foster strong professional bonds through regular district meetings and collaborative forums, offer guidance on practice ownership and staff recruitment tailored to mountain economics, and connect local residents with vetted member dentists across Pikeville and surrounding areas.
